(WICHITA, Kan.) — 1988 was the last time all three Kansas teams made it to the Big Dance. And when the first round locations were announced last night, Shocker, Jayhawk and Wildcat fans rushed to make travel plans to follow their teams.
And it turns out the price of being a fan is high.
Wichita State and Kansas State fans will have to travel the farthest from home. Both Portland and Pittsburgh are close to 1,500 miles away from Wichita, making driving time consuming and expensive. A round trip to either city will cost you about $600 dollars just in gas.
Driving is a more realistic option for KU fans. Omaha is about 300 miles away.
Flights to Portland are filling up quickly and die hard fans are shelling out big bucks to make the trip. A flight from Mid-Continent airport to Portland costs nearly $1,300.
Add in hotel, meals and tickets to the game and you're looking at more than $2,000 per person.
