Vote to help KWCH give away $1000 in the fight against cancer

(WICHITA, Kan.) — 12 local Kansans are competing to raise money to support people with blood related cancers. The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Kansas (LLS) is kicking off its fundraising Man and Woman of the Year campaign.

The campaign is a 10 week event where the candidates raise money to help patients with Leukemia and Lymphoma cancers. At the end of the ten weeks, the man and woman who raises the most money are given the title as Kansas Man & Woman of the Year. Each participant "runs" in honor of a local child that is a blood cancer survivor.

2012’s Little Girl of the Year is 9-year-old Mikala Hodgens. She was diagnosed with Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia (ALL) on January 3rd, 2010. Mikala is in remission but is still undergoing chemotherapy.

2012’s Little Boy of the Year is 6-year-old Joseph Bacon. He was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia on September 23, 2010. Joseph is currently undergoing chemotherapy which is scheduled to end April 2013.

You can help donate $1,000 to one of the local Kansans raising money for LLS by just “liking” their photo on KWCH’s Facebook page or “sharing” their photo on your own Facebook page.
