(WICHITA, Kan.) — Several street projects get underway in northwest wichita this week. The city says the projects will improve intersections, add turn lanes and widen streets to accommodate traffic patterns.
Work will begin at the 13th and Ridge intersection. Improvements include dual left-turn lanes installed on southbound Ridge Road, new signal lights and a dedicated right-turn lane that will be constructed on westbound 13th Street. The intersection improvements will be completed in October.
Tyler Road will close for four weeks from approximately a half mile north of 21st Street to a half mile south of 29th Street. Thru-traffic will be detoured to Ridge Road while that portion of Tyler Road is closed to complete improvements that were unable to be finished over the winter. When completed in four weeks, left turn lanes will be provided along Tyler at the intersections along this route.
Starting next Monday (March 26), construction will begin on adding dual left-turn lanes to all four approaches at the 21st and Maize intersection, along with a raised median on Maize Road to improve traffic flow turning into the area’s retail locations. Construction is scheduled to be completed by Thanksgiving.
