(MANHATTAN, Kan.) — There is heavy speculation surrounding Kansas State men's head basketball coach Frank Martin and the open coaching job at the University of South Carolina.

Martin is in New York this weekend for CBS Sports coverage of the NCAA Tournament. In a text message to several writers, Frank Martin said he hasn't talked to anyone and was enjoying a Broadway show in New York.

Several media outlets reported Martin's departure from K-State or that he had interviewed for the position, but then deleted the stories from their websites and Twitter feeds.

Phone calls to K-State Athletic Director John Currie went to voicemail Friday afternoon. South Carolina Athletic Director Eric Hyman is in California with the women's basketball team in the Sweet 16.

There has been high tension between Martin and Currie following the suspension of senior Jamar Samuels at the NCAA Tournament. The Wildcats lost to Syracuse in the round of 32 in Pittsburgh.

The internet has been buzzing about Martin's possible departure from Manhattan to Columbia, South Carolina, a job that many would consider a step down from basketball crazy Kansas to football mad South Carolina.

Martin has been the head coach at K-State since 2007. He was an assistant at Northeastern, Cincinnati and with the Wildcats under Bob Huggins before taking over the program.

Martin has led the Wildcats to the NCAA Tournament four times and has advanced in three of those, including to the Elite Eight in 2010.

Stay tuned to KWCH 12 Eyewitness Sports this weekend for all the details and any new developments.
