Bike friend campaign launched

(WICHITA, Kan.) — The Health and Wellness Coalition of Wichita and the Bike Wichita steering committee is launching the Bicycle Friendly Business Campaign.

The campaign aims to promote active and healthy lifestyles for employees and customers in the Wichita area.

It will honor businesses, government agencies, or non-profits, with more than two employees located in the Wichita metro area, that actively promote bicycling.

HWC will recognize those deserving businesses that engage in bicycle friendly approaches that include but are not limited to the following.

" encourages bicyclists to their business

" has secure and convenient bicycle parking

" provides incentives for employees to commute by bicycle

" supports a bicycle team/club

" works to improve bicycle conditions in the community

" provides on-site shower facilities for employees

" promotes "bike to work" week

HWC will recognize the Wichita Bicycle Friendly Business by profiling the business on www.hwcwichita.org and by presenting a decal to be displayed in the business.

A business may apply for this recognition or individuals may nominate a business.
