Still want to hold my camera for me?
All whining aside, practice days are good. They're slow, they're easy story lines and they're a welcome reprieve from the craziness that is a game day. I honestly sprinted about three miles last night between my live shot and the KU locker room and the media center in order to bring the viewers some locker room sound after the Jayhawks' win. I did that in heels. Still want to come help me out?
Today Tyshawn Taylor said he chugged about 20 Gatorades. That makes me wonder how the NCAA sponsor Powerade feels about the Jayhawks. I kid, I kid. But seriously, 20 Gatorades, er, electolyte-infused beverages? Taylor has been battling a cold he said, and the medicine he's taking makes him easily dehydrated. Although, coach Self said he went through the same things during their tournament in Hawaii so was he sick with the same thing then? Was he taking the same medicine then?
In any case, Taylor and Self both say the star point guard should be good to go against Purdue on Sunday. Should is the operative word; Taylor himself said he's a little worried because he felt fine before he started cramping up in Friday's game too.
Luckily, it's another late game for Kansas with a 7:40 ish tip off time.

It's finally game day, but we still have to wait essentially all day to see the Kansas Jayhawks take the court. Coach Self has said multiple times the last couple of days that he really dislikes the 9 pm time slot especially in the first couple of rounds. There are just so many games on that Coach doesn't want his players just sitting around watching them and letting the excitement and pressure build all day. Therefore, if you're a Kansas fan in Omaha there's a potential you could see the guys walking around town to distract themselves. They were all walking around San Antonio on that first night, shopping and just 'chillin out' as Coach Self put it.
I wonder, how many KU fans that are here are superstitious about being in Omaha? I knew one couple from back home in Florida that went to the exact same casino and stayed in the exact same room in Biloxi the second time that Florida won a national title because that's what they did the first time around. I have to think some Kansas fans would be doing the exact same things they did in 2008.
The one thing that I like to do on a game day is go for a run through the arena area and the downtown of whatever city I'm in. It's fun seeing all the fans walking around and seeing all the different teams represented. I've only seen a couple Gator fans so far but I definitely gave them a loud, 'Go Gators!' as I ran by in my blue tank top and orange sports bra. I do have to say, I think there's an equal number of Missouri and Kansas fans present. I don't know what that means really but that's what I've observed.
Anyway, happy game day to everyone and good luck to your teams! I'm going to avoid calling the newsroom for a while because it's still so depressing after that Shocker loss last night.
