Road to the Final Four: Jenn in St. Louis

Speaking of crazy, did you know this is Kansas' 23rd straight trip to the NCAA tournament?  Who am I kidding, of course you did, you're a Jayhawk fan.  You know basketball.  One fan didn't quite seem to know one thing about KU though last night.  When Bill Self was walking into the hotel a passer by asked, 'Coach, what exactly is a Jayhawk?'  Self replied, "I've been coaching here 9 years and I don't even know what it is."  Gotta love the guy.

You know what else people don't seem to know anywhere in this country:  What channel is TruTv?  It's 64 on Cox Cable in Wichita if you need to know.  Interestingly enough, the hotel where I'm staying didn't get TruTv before this weekend.  The guy running the health club told me they had to specially have TruTv put directly into the hotel's cable system just for this weekend so we could watch every game.  I thought that was pretty cool.

Know what else is cool?  Omaha.  I have to give it to this city.  The Old Town Market is such a fun area.  Everything is walkable (which is great, I need all the extra exercise I can get this week) and it just has such a good vibe.

Omaha definitely has a good vibe for KU; the Jayhawks 2008 championship run started right here in Omaha.  In fact, two of the 'Hawks titles have come when Kansas has started its run in the state of Nebraska.

Speaking of runs, did you know Kansas has gone 237 games without consecutive losses?  That streak goes back to the 2005-2006 season and its the longest active streak in the nation.  Kansas is coming in to this tournament off a loss to Baylor in the Big 12 tournament so that bodes well.

It's about time to head over to the arena for the second-session practices.  The Saint Mary's Gaels are up first at 3:45 follow by Kansas, Purdue and finally Detroit.

You know, Detroit's star sophomore Ray McCallum was recruited by Kansas?  In fact, he was on a visit at the same time as Xavier Henry to Allen Fieldhouse.  McCallum decided to go to Detroit and play for his dad.  Small world, huh?
