Wichita police looking for shooting suspect

April 02, 2012|By Anne Meyer | KWCH 12 Eyewitness News

(Wichita, KS) — Wichita police are still looking for a shooting suspect, who officers say fired several shots near Hillside and Waterman.

Investigators say it appears the suspect was targeting a man on a motorcycle, but also hit a car traveling North on Hillside. Neither driver was hurt, but the car suffered damage to the windshield.

The SWAT team was called in, and officers blocked off the area shortly after 11 Monday morning when it was believed the suspect was inside a home on the 3100 block of Waterman. However, when SWAT members entered that home they did not find the suspect. Officers are now trying to locate that suspect.

Patrol East Captain Hassan Ramzah says the suspect was also involved in a domestic violence incident on the 2000 block of South St. Clair shortly before the shooting on Waterman.

Officers are also looking for a second suspect, but say that person was not the shooter.

We will have more on this shooting on KWCH and KWCH.com.
