{OXFORD, Oh.} — Former Wichita State Shocker basketball player John Cooper is now the head coach at Miami University of Ohio. The decision was announced Friday afternoon and Cooper will be officially introduced on Monday.
Previously Cooper was the head coach at Tennessee State University where he spent three seasons. This season the Tigers finished with a 20-13 record marking the first time since the 1995-96 season that Tennessee State finished with a winning record. One of their 20 wins was over Murray State which finished its 2012 season in the round of 32 with a loss to Marquette.
During his junior and senior seasons with the Shockers, Cooper led the team in scoring and rebounding while also earning the honor of being named a Rhodes scholar.
Cooper also helped mentor current Wichita State assistant coach, Dana Ford.
