Hadley M.S. student arrested for threatening others with a gun

April 11, 2012|by John Boyd | KWCH 12 Eyewitness News

(WICHITA, Kan.) — Wichita police arrest a student accused of threatening other students with a gun.  Police say the students attend Hadley Middle School.

A school spokeswoman says the incident happened across the street from school between four and five Tuesday afternoon.  She says the school didn't find out about it until police contacted staff Wednesday.

Police say three 14-year-old students (two boys and a girl) were confronted by a classmate who had a gun. The armed student threatened to shoot at least one of the other students.

No shots were fired.  The victims later went home and called police.

The school spokeswoman says the student lives in the area and she doesn't believe the gun was ever inside the school.  They will send out a phone alert to parents about the situation.

Police say it's unclear what the student with the gun was upset about.
