Infant killed in Sumner County crash

(SUMNER COUNTY, Kan.) — An infant is killed in Sumner County during a Friday morning collision. The accident happened around 11:30 Friday mroning at 20th and Greenwich Road, near the town of Oxford.

Sumner County Sheriff Darren Chambers says a passenger car was headed eastbound on 20th St. S. when it collided with a trash truck heading north on Greenwich Road. Chambers says there are no stop or yield signs at the intersection.

A man, woman and infant were in the passenger car. The infant was killed upon impact. The man and woman were flown to Wesley Medical Center with critical injuries.

The 73-year-old driver of the trash track was not hurt.

The names of the victims are not being released while authorities work to notify family members.
