Monday Morning Update: April 16, 2012

Director of Emergency Management for Sedgwick County Randy Duncan spoke with Eyewitness News Monday morning.  He said 100 of the 150 homes in the Pinaire Mobile Home park suffered damage or destruction.

Right now, Duncan says the focus should be for residents to clear away debris from their property.  That debris can be moved to the curbline for pickup by crews.

Duncan says there is a burn ban for the month of April, and that may hinder cleanup efforts. He says they will work with officials to determine the best way to get rid of the debris.

As for residents whose homes suffered damage, Duncan says it's important to get the insurance process started right away so they can get the assistance they need to get things back to normal as quickly as possible.

Duncan also urged volunteers to stay away from the area. Anyone wishing to help out should contact theUnited Way'shelpline at 211.
