(DODGE CITY, Kan.) — Dodge City Community College says it wants to focus on new technology as it continues to move into the 21st century.

The new efforst include using lessons involving the iPad. Every faculty member at the college has made adjustments to make sure each lesson uses the tablet computers.

The school says the devices are not a substitute for textbooks, but, instead, are a supplement.

"Our students need to be very familiar with technology, they need to be comfortable with technology, they need to be adaptable learners, they need to be self-learners and we honestly believe this is the best way to help them become those adaptable, self-learners," said Thad Russell with Dodge City Community College.

Each student will be required to have an iPad next semester. Students who qualify can get financial aid to purchase one of the devices.
