(WICHITA, Kan.) — Wichita police now know more information about a shooting Thursday that left a 19-year-old in critical condition.
Police say the shooting in the 600 block of south Kansas, started as a drug deal. They say a suspect went to the home to do a drug deal with the victim's father. During the drug deal, police say the suspect pulled out a large caliber handgun.
The 19-year-old victim also had a gun and pulled it out after the suspect point his gun at his father. That's when a shootout started and the victim was shot several times. Police believe the suspect was also hit because there was a trail of blood.
The suspect left in a pickup truck which was found Thursday near Harry and George Washington. Police are still looking for the suspect.
Police did arrest the victim's father on separate drug charges.
Police describe the suspect as a 29-year-old black man, about 6 feet tall, 215 pounds, bald with a teardrop tattoo under one eye. He was last seen wearing jean shorts and a T-shirt.
