WICHITA, Kan. — Wichita State junior forward Carl Hall has been granted an eligibility waiver by the NCAA to play basketball during the 2012-13 season, Head Coach Gregg Marshall announced today.

"We received wonderful news with regard to Carl Hall's fourth season of eligibility and sixth year of college," Marshall said. "The medical condition with his heart early in his career kept him out of basketball for the better part of two seasons, and the NCAA viewed favorably on his situation.

"We are looking forward to having him with us for 2012-13. He will graduate, then start working on a master's degree. I know it is a big relief for him, and we anticipate a very productive senior season."

Hall played three games at Middle Georgia College in 2007-08 before a heart condition ended his basketball season and he was granted a medical hardship by the NJCAA. He then attended Middle Georgia in 2008-09 and did not play basketball, but played again in 2009-10. He then transferred to Northwest Florida State Community College for the 2010-11 season.

He then transferred to Wichita State in 2011-12, earning All-Missouri Valley Conference Newcomer of the Year, while starting 19 of the 33 games he played. He averaged 8.4 points and 5.0 rebounds, while shooting 57 percent from the field for the Shockers, which earned an at-large berth into the NCAA tournament and won the regular-season MVC title.
