Storm Team 12: Sunny Saturday, cloudy and wet Sunday

April 28, 2012|By Meteorologist Dean Jones | Storm Team 12

Today will be the day to get some yard work done or just enjoy the great outdoors as mostly sunny skies will prevail with mild afternoon high temperatures in the 60s and 70s.  The cold front that passed through the state will become stationary across Oklahoma later this afternoon into tonight.

Moisture will be on the increase tonight.  Showers and thunderstorms are possible starting in southern Kansas and spreading northward by morning.  Overnight temperatures will drop into the 40s and 50s most areas.

Sunday looks like a good day for the movies or indoor activities.  It will not be a total washout, however showers and thunderstorms are likely statewide.  At this time severe storms are not expected to be a problem.  Rainfall amounts through Sunday evening may be close to 1" with even heavier amounts possible over southeast Kansas.

More stormy-wet weather possible on Monday.
