April 30, 2012|KWCH 12 Eyewitness Sports

The Wichita State University men's golf team took the lead after two rounds of the 2012 State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Championship at Prairie Dunes Country Club. The Shockers lead the field by 13 strokes heading into the final day of competition.

Louis Cohen Boyer, and Hunter Sparks each turned in 4-over 144's to tie for fourth. Calvin Pearson was just a stroke back of his teammates at 145 and tied for 6th.

Missouri State's Daily Young and Evansville's Andrew Luo are tied atop the leaderboard at 142 (+2). Only one player broke 70 when UNI's Ryan Horner produced a 69 in the second round.

Foggy conditions dominated the morning round, though there was little wind to add to an already challenging course. WSU, voted the favorite to win the title by the league's coaches, shot an 8-over 288 to pace the field. The wind picked up in the afternoon session and the scores rose accordingly. The Shockers carded a second-round 293 to post a 581 (+21) for the day.  Evansville is second with a 594 (+34).
