(STAFFORD COUNTY, Kan.) — The Kansas Highway Patrol is investigating what caused a two vehicle crash in Stafford County Friday morning.

Investigators say a car driven by 19-year-old Nathan Kenworthy pulled out in front of a construction crane at the intersection of U-50 & U-281, about three miles south of St. John.

Kenworthy was flown to Wichita's Via Christi St. Francis Hospital to be treated for his injuries.

Terry Spradley with the St. John News reports that Kenworthy has abrasions and a contusion on his head but no broken bones and no internal injuries.  Spradley has spoken with Kenworthy's father, the superintendent of U.S.D. 350, St. John-Hudson public schools.

Spradley reports that Kenworthy was on his way to Pratt Community College for classes at the time of the accident.

The driver of the crane was not hurt.

The highway patrol report shows both drivers were wearing their safety belts.
