Storm Team 12: Breezy and warmer; front on the way

May 10, 2012|By Meteorologist Mark Larson | Storm Team 12

Southerly winds will be gusty this afternoon as highs soar into the upper-70s to mid-80s under a mostly sunny sky.  Northwest Kansas will likely top out near 90 degrees!

The brief burst of heat and wind will not last as a cold front slides into northern and western Kansas Friday. Look for increasing clouds, shifting winds and cooler temperatures but showers will most likely hold off until Friday night.

Behind the front this weekend look for cooler weather as afternoon highs fall back into the cool 50s and 60s along with a few widelty scattered showers Saturday and Sunday. Our weekend will not be a wash-out but we'll be dodging some raindrops from time to time.
