Storm Team 12: Pleasant, mild Mother's Day for most

May 13, 2012|By Meteorologist Dean Jones | Storm Team 12

Mother Nature is cooperating with Mom's today as showers and rain that was expected across southwest Kansas has not materialized this morning, however there is a chance showers and a few rumbles of thunder could develop across western Kansas later today.  Severe weather is not expected across Kansas.  Elsewhere a few clouds will drift across the region, while others enjoy a mostly sunny day.  Highs will be in the upper 60s to low 70s statewide.

Any showers will come to an end early tonight and skies should begin to clear out by morning, leaving us with mostly clear skies to start the work week.  Lows tonight will drop into the 40s and low 50s.

Plenty of sunshine will will put Kansas in the upper 70s and 80s over the next several days!  A few storms are possible late Wednesday in the west while eastern Kansas has a slight chance on Thursday.  Better chances of storms work into the picture by the weekend.
