Storm Team 12: Some storms then cooler

Related Links;

May 18, 2012|By Meteorologist Rodney Price | Storm Team 12

The winds will back down a bit overnight but will stay breezy.  An isolated storm can't be ruled out in far western Kansas in the early evening hours otherwise it'll be dry for most.  Lows will be in the 60s, with some middle 50s in far northwest Kansas as a cold front slips into that region late tonight.

Another windy day is forecast on Saturday as the front works into central Kansas by the end of the day.  Highs in the 80s are expected east of the front, with 60s and 70s behind it in western Kansas.  Showers and storms are possible by late afternoon across central Kansas, with some large hail and high winds the main threats.  The thunderstorm threat should move into the Wichita area by evening.

The rain chance will end early in the east on Sunday and then look for decreasing clouds.  We'll have lighter winds and cooler temperatures too.  Highs in the middle to upper 70s will be a welcome change to the summer-time temperatures we've had lately.

Next week will be mild to start but a gradual warm up is expected though the week.  Some isolated storm chances are possible Wednesday.
