(ARKANSAS CITY, Kan.) — William Carson, a man accused of killing his wife, has died according to Cowley County Attorney Chris Smith as reported by NewsCow.com.

Carson had been found mentally unfit to stand trial in the murder of his wife and was in Texas for mental health treatment.  It's unclear how he died.

Original Story

62-year-old William Carson faced charges of second degree murder.  Police say he killed 68-year-old Terry Carson after an argument.

After the argument William went next door to ask a neighbor for help.  The neighbor called 911. When police arrived, they found Terry dead and William bleeding from the neck.

Cowley County Attorney Chris Smith says they were superficial wounds and wouldn't elaborate on how William received them.  He says William was treated at the hospital and once released he was booked into jail.

The Carson's son also tells Eyewitness News he doesn't believe his father is responsible for his mother's death.  He says they had a good relationship and minor issues like every married couple.

Terry spent her career as a teacher in both Wellington and Wichita.
