Storm Team 12: Hot and windy, evening storms possible

May 26, 2012|By Meteorologist Dean Jones | Storm Team 12

A hot, windy and humid start to the Memorial Day weekend!  The strongest winds will be over western Kansas, where a Wind Advisory and a High Wind Warning is in effect this afternoon.  Some gusts will exceed 45-60 mph.  A few late day storms will be possible again in the west where there is a slight risk of severe weather.  Highs today will reach the middle and upper 90s!

More storm chances will be around on Sunday afternoon.  Another hot and windy day is forecast with highs in the 80s and 90s.  Storms should roll into central and eastern Kansas by Sunday evening.

A few storms will be possible early Monday in the east before the activity pushes away from the Wichita area.  Highs will drop a bit behind a cold front: look for readings in the 80s on Memorial Day.

If you have plans to camp this weekend, you'll want to stay up to date with the forecast and keep an eye to the sky when storm clouds approach!  See additional information below the forecast!
