(McCONNELL AFB, Kan.) — The Kansas National Guard’s 184th Intelligence Wing has dedicated its Intelligence Complex to the former U.S. Secretary of Defense Dr. Robert M. Gates.
Gates was the guest of honor at Wednesday's ceremony at McConnell Air Force Base.
Gates served as Defense Secretary under Presidents George W. Bush and Barack Obama between 2006 and 2011. He was director of the Central Intelligence Agency from 1991 to 1993.
The three-building complex at McConnell Air Force Base is home to more than 350 airmen who help produce intelligence information collected by various manned and unmanned aircraft.
In April, it was announced that Gates would join an international consulting firm headed by former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice. Gates is also serving as the 24th Chancellor of the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia.
