RENO CO., Kan. — A man is rushed to the hospital in serious condition following a car accident in Reno County.
The Reno County Sheriff's Department reports the victim was traveling near the west entrance of Cheney lake. The driver failed to make the curve, and went into a ditch before going airborne, going over two trees.
The vehicle caught fire while the driver was trapped inside. A witnesses saw the fire, and pulled the driver from the vehicle.
The driver was rushed to Via Christi - St. Francis hospital in Wichita, where he is currently in serious condition.
Deputies at the scene say alcohol is suspected of being a contributing factor in the accident. The vehicle was completely destroyed by the fire, hampering efforts to identify it, and the driver.
