My bad

June 07, 2012|By Roger Cornish | KWCH 12 Eyewitness News

(WICHITA, Kan.) — It's amazing the difference one little world can make.

I made a mistake in not noticing the word on the air Tuesday night.

One of our stories at 10 o'clock mentioned that Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker had "narrowly" survived a recall election.

In reality, the vote wasn't that close, which was quickly pointed out to me by a caller to our Answerback line.

The caller saw it as an indication of our bias.

Actually, that version of the story had been written earlier in the evening when the race was too close to call.

It should have been changed later, but wasn't.

I should have noticed the word "narrowly" and taken it out, but I didn't.

We try to be accurate and unbiased in our reporting.

This was simply a mistake.
