(SALINA,Kan) — Riverfest is going on in Wichita... but it's not the only place to find some family fun this weekend. Thousands of people will head to Salina for the Smoky Hill River festival.
The event takes up much of historic Oakdale Park in central Salina. Organizers say they had around 10,000 people come out Thursday night for the kickoff event which saw several concerts on display.

Organizers expect upwards of 80,000 people from all over the state to show up the rest of the weekend.
“It is so fun to just watch them to take advantage of a beautiful park,” says director Brad Anderson.
Admission is 15 dollars per person for the entire weekend. “Just a comfortable environment to come have fun for three and half days", adds Anderson.
Eyewitness News also spoke with a food stand called “Chubbs and Spudds”; they made their way to Salina from Plainville.
