Winds cause scattered damage in parts of Kansas

(WICHITA, Kan.) — Strong winds caused damage across central and western Kansas Thursday night.

The National Weather Service received a report of a camper blown over at the airport in Norton. There are downed trees, power outages and vehicles were knocked off the road in Norton County.

There was an unconfirmed report of a tornado in Ness County. There are no reports of damage or injuries with this storm.

The sirens went off in Hays and parts of Ellis County. An mergency dispatcher tells Eyewitness News, a trained weather spotter saw what he said was a funnel and debris in the air, so the sirens were sounded. There were strong winds and hail in the area at the time, but the National Weather Service never issued a Tornado Warning.

Power outages are also reported in Finney County, as these storms continue to drop hail across parts of cental and western Kansas.
