{WICHITA, Ks.} — The Wichita Wingnuts beat the Kansas City T-Bones 6-5 in 10 innings at Lawrence-Dumont Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
Taylor Freeman drew a one-out, bases loaded walk to force in the winning run in the bottom of the 10th and allow the Wingnuts to take two of three in their series against the T-Bones. Tied at 5-5, Juan Richardson drew a leadoff walk and escaped a rundown to steal second base with C.J. Ziegler at the plate. After Ziegler was intentionally walked, David Peralta advanced the runners with a comebacker to pitcher Jacob Wiley. Mitch Einertson was intentionally walked to load the bases before Freeman came to the plate.
Matt Nevarez threw two shutout relief innings in the ninth and 10th to earn the win.
Wichita had a 5-3 lead going into the top of the eighth when Kansas City rallied for two runs to tie the game. Bubby Williams and Justin Bass drew back-to-back walks to open the inning and eventually moved to first and second on a wild pitch. Brandon Jones singled to left to drive in Williams and Bass, and tie the game at 5-5.
