Man calls in false robbery report

Urinates in WPD squad car

June 18, 2012|by John Boyd | KWCH 12 Eyewitness News

Wichita police arrest a man for making a false report and vandalism to a police vehicle. It all started around 5:15 Monday morning when officers were called to a report of a "robbery in progress" at the Quik Trip on S. Hillside.

Police say, it turned out the call was false and they took a man into custody accused of making that call. Apparently, the suspect became irate while in the back seat of the squad car.

"The individual began to be upset and urinated in the back seat of the vehicle and kicked out the rear driver's side (window) of the vehicle," said Lt. Doug Nolte with the Wichita Police Department.

The 33-year-old man was booked into the Sedgwick County Jail on charges of filing a false report and vandalism to a police vehicle.

Cleanup of the back seat and replacement of the broken window is expected to cost around $400.
