(DERBY, Kan.) — Police in Goddard and Derby are looking for suspects after two fireworks stands were robbed over the last couple of days.

The first robbery happened around 10:15 Wednesday night in the 300 block of East Patriot Avenue in Derby.  Police say the men were armed with a silver colored revolver and demanded fireworks. The suspects took off in a black SUV with a slanted back.

The robbers made off with several packages of fireworks.

Police did release a sketch of what one of the suspects looked like. If you have any information you are asked to call the Derby Police Department Investigation Section at 788-1557.

The second robbery happened late Thursday night in Goddard.  Police say a black Escalade drove into a parking lot at a stand at Kellogg and 167th Street.   The robbers pulled up in their vehicle and said they were going fireworks shopping.  The fireworks stand attendant said they were closed.

At that point, the driver pulled out a revolver and pointed it at the attendant and made him sit down.  A second suspect, who was wearing clown makeup, went into the tent and they stole around $1,000 worth of fireworks.

As they were leaving, the attendant pulled out his own weapon and fired three shots at the vehicle, but didn't hit it.

Police believe the two robberies are connected.
