(GARDEN CITY, Kan.) — Garden City police look for suspects in a weekend shooting, after a man shows up at the hospital with a gunshot wound to his back.
Just before 4:00 on Saturday morning, police say a 23-year-old man showed up at St. Catherine Hospital. He had been shot in the back, but his injuries were not life-threatening.
After initial investigation, police say they determined the victim was with three other people driving in the 1900 block of E. Business 50. Investigators say a black pick-up pulled along their car, and the people inside the pick-up began yelling and throwing beer cans at them. Police say the victim was struck by a can, before the two vehicles left in different directions.
Police say the Garcia and the people he was with went looking for the pick-up. The two vehicles passed going opposite directions in the 400 block of E. Laurel St. The two vehicles stopped; two people got out of the pick-up, while one person got out of the car the victim was in. One of the suspects from the pick-up fired several shots toward the car. One shot struck the victim in the back, and the two cars separated.
Police are still looking for the black pick-up and the suspects inside. Anyone with information should call Garden City Police at (620)276-1300 or CrimeStoppers at (620)275-7807 or text GCTIP to 847411.
