(WICHITA, Kan.) —
There were two building fires this morning.
One of the fires took place at a home in the 1100 block of Pearce.
It occurred at 2:20AM and was contained shortly after it started.
When crews arrived at the scene, smoke and flames were showing.
Fire investigators say it started with a power strip behind a couch. The strip caught blankets, which were on the couch, on fire.
There were three people in the home at the time. All escaped safely.
The second fire happened at an apartment complex in the 1400 block of North Kansas. It occurred at 4:45AM.
When crews arrived at the scene, smoke and flames were showing from the first floor of the fourplex apartment complex.
The fire was eventually contained to the first floor.
There were three people home at the time. All escaped safely.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
The Red Cross was called out to assist in both fires.
