{WICHITA, Ks.} — He's a familiar face around Wichita, especially at the track at Cessna Stadium. Now, he's heading to the Olympic games.
This weekend, Draudvila, a former Kansas State track athlete and current volunteer assistant coach at Wichita State, qualified for the Olympic Decathlon for his home country of Lithuania. Draudvila is also a member of the Shocker Track club in Wichita.
In 2008, Draudvila set a national heptathlon record and while at Kansas State he took 4th place in Wildcat team history in the decathlon.
Draudvila scored 7,981 points to qualify for the Olympic Decathlon; the Olympic standard for the decathlon is 7,950.
The decathlon is two-days worth of competition starting on August 8th.
