Sao Paulo, Brazil — Wichita State University senior-to-be Rafael Becker won the Brazilian Amateur Championship for the third-straight time. Becker defended his title with a three-stroke victory on Sunday.

The Sao Paulo, Brazil native led from the very start and ended with an 8-under 276 (69-66-67-74). He bested Uruguay's Juan Alvarez, who made a late push with a fourth-round 69.

Becker's individual effort also helped Brazil claimed the team title, edging Uruguay by one stroke and putting Brazil on top of the 10-team field.

A total of 88 competitors participated in the tournament, which is part of the Gillette Cup. It was the 82nd annual Amateur Golf Championship of Brazil and took place at the Country Club of St. Paul.

Becker was the 2012 Missouri Valley Conference Golfer-of-the-Year.
