(HUTCHINSON, Kan.) — Streets are now reopened after an evacuation in Hutchinson. Hazmat and the Wichita bomb squad had to search a house for explosives and a chemical spill.

The Hutchinson Police Department posted on its Facebook page that Hoagland St. was closed down around 2nd Ave. and 4th Ave., and between Porter and K-61.

Police tell us a man mixed up some sort of bleach/chlorine mixture. His next door neighbor tells us he called the KBI five days prior to report a chemical smell lingering in the neighborhood.

The man also said there was an explosive device in his home.  The man is currently in the hospital for a psychiatric evaluation.

He was arrested Monday night when police discovered a stolen vehicle in the driveway of the residence.

Hazmat crews wrapped up at around six o'clock, neutralizing a spill of acidic chemicals in the home.

Hutchinson Hazmat situation cleared.
