(KIOWA COUNTY, Kan.) — It's a happy ending. Leona, the 120 pound tortoise, has been found safe.
Owner Tony Lowery says Leona was found safe at a neighbor's house about five miles from where she disappeared a week.
She is now back home.

Original Story, July 2
Efforts are underway to find a missing resident in Kiowa County. This isn't your typical resident, it's a 130 pound African Sulcata tortoise.
"There's nothing in Kansas that is going to resemble one of these guys," owner Tony Lowery says.
The tortoise Leona and her male partner Puck broke out of their enclosure near Greensburg about a week ago. Puck was quickly found, but Leona is still missing. The Lowerys have searched for her on horseback and ATV.
The Lowerys got the tortoises nearly 20 years ago at a pet store. They've grown from the size of hockey pucks to weigh 120 to 130 pounds. And they're still growing.
