(GARDEN CITY, Kan.) — Officials from three southwest Kansas communities say an effort to stop graffiti is working.

Graffiti was jsut one topic discussed Monday at a joint meeting of leaders from Finney County, Garden City and Holcomb. Police say that a neighborhood improvement grant has lowered graffiti numbers by 75%

A new resolution will help law enforcement track targeted areas, by informing business and homeowners of markings. Owners will have 72 hours to remove graffiti.

"We don't want to allow people to become complacent with the idea, or to become acceptant to the fact 'well, they are always going to my house, so I will just leave it there' because, by leaving the graffiti there, it just prepetuates the situation more," said Det. Clint Brock.
