(DODGE CITY, Kan.) — Dodge City police arrest the driver of a truck who hit a girl driving a motorized toy car.

The accident happened just before 9:30 p.m. on Wednesday in the 1200 block of Sunnyside in Dodge City. Investigators say they found a six-year-old girl suffering from disabling injuries.

Eyewitnesses told police that a Dodge pick-up going south struck the girl when her pick battery-operated Jeel rolled out of her driveway into the street. Police say after the truck hit the girl, it struck a parked car.

The girl was transported to a Dodge City hospital, and from there sent to a hospital in Wichita. Police arrested the 53-year-old driver of the pick-up on suspicion of DUI, reckless driving, failure to stop at an accident, aggravated battery and driving left of center. Formal charges have not yet been filed.
