State Trooper from Rush County charged with child sex crimes

(RUSH COUNTY, Kan.) — A Kansas Highway Patrol trooper is on a leave of absence without pay after being charged with sex crimes.

Domingo Cardenas is charged in Rush County court with six counts of aggravated indecent liberties, one count of rape, one count of aggravated criminal sodomy and one count of battery.

According to court documents, the alleged crimes happened between August, 2008 and late last year.  Investigators say there were two victims between the ages of 14 and 16. Cardenas is shceduled for a preliminary hearing July 27.
