Best Buy Text Message Scam

July 20, 2012|by Brittany Roembach | KWCH Eyewitness News

(WICHITA, Kan.) — If you receive a text massage from Best Buy claiming that you won a $1,000 gift card, don't believe it.

The scam directs people to a website, asking them to enter a three-digit code in order to claim the prize.

Best Buy Corporate Office is aware of the problem and are working to figure out the source.

The Corporate Office, Text Message Service Department warns "The messages are not from Best Buy. Best Buy will never initiate a text message asking for personal information."

They advise anyone who receives one of these text messages to contact their mobile carrier.
