(WICHITA, Kan.) — Members of Living Waters Ministries gave away free shoes to anyone who needed them.
The group set up shop in the old Dillon's parking lot near Lincoln and Hydraulic.
An event organizer said while they were working to get 400 pairs of shoes for students at Linwood Elementary the donations were pouring in. Today they gave away all the extra shoes that were not destined for those elementary students.
Susan Vanhook, director of Living Waters Ministries, says they got the idea for a shoe giveaway during a winter coat drive.
"Two kids came down and asked if we coats and shoes," said Vanhook, " We didn't and it broke my heart."
