(HOWARD, Kan.) — Two Elk County residents were sentenced Monday to at least 15 years in prison after pleading guilty earlier this year to second-degree murder.
29 year old Amber Bright, of Oak Valley, was sentenced to 203 months in the Kansas Department of Corrections.
She pleaded guilty in June to the second-degree murder charge in the 2011 death of Gordon Scott Smith.
28 year old Kansas Sundown Campbell, also of Oak Valley, was sentenced to 165 months in the Kansas Department of Corrections for his part in the murder.
Campbell was also sentenced to a consecutive 15-month term for possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute.
He pleaded guilty to the charges in May.
In addition to the prison time, each defendant was ordered to pay restitution of $2,045.
Judge David A. Ricke handed down the sentences in Elk County District Court.
