Our 2012 triple-digit tally continues to mount here across Kansas as a hot area of high pressure remains parked over our region. There are some signs that the stagnant weather pattern will shift a bit by Thursday allowing a weak cold front to venture into Kansas offering a bit of heat relief.
This afternoon will bring a bit more wind, a mix of sun and clouds and highs near 105 for most of Kansas. Excessive heat warnings and advisories continue through Wednesday evening so continue to practice heat safety and stay cool if you can.
More hot weather is on the way Wednesday but as a cold front approaches Wednesday night and Thursday, look for scattered showers and storms to develop. The rain and storms won't be widespread but at we'll least see our best bet to get wet in several weeks.
The front is set to stall along the Kansas-Oklahoma border Thursday afternoon as the rain and storm chances sink into the Sooner state. Behind the front Thursday afternoon we can expect highs in the 90s under a partly cloudy sky.
