(EMPORIA, Kan.) — Emporia police arrest two people that may be linked to a series of church burglaries in Kansas and Oklahoma.
Arkansas City Police Chief Sean Wallace confirmed that a man and woman were arrested in Emporia Thursday night. Officers arrested the man on a warrant issued out of Arkansas City, the woman on a warrant out of Kay County, Oklahoma.
Investigators are currently in Emporia questioning the suspects. Emporia police say the woman's two children, ages 4 & 6, are in child protective custody.
Emporia police tell us affidavits will be prepared against the male suspect, asking for formal charges to include burglary, theft and criminal damage to property of First Congressional Church at 326 West 12th Avenue, First Christina Church at 202 West 12th Avenue and attempted burglary and criminal damage to property of the First United Methodist Church at 823 Merchant Street.
