Kansas candidates release financial information

(WICHITA, Kan.) — Candidates in races across Kansas have released information on how much money they've raised and where it came from.

All candidates, party and political action committees under the purview of the Kansas Governmental Ethics Commission must file either an Affidavit of Exemption From Filing Receipts & Expenditures Reports or file periodic Receipts & Expenditures Reports.

Campaign finance forms and reports submitted on behalf of candidates for state office, party and political action committees are scanned immediately by the Commission's staff. Click on the link at the bottom of this story to read all the forms filed.

District Attorney for the 18th Judicial District (Sedgwick County & Wichita)

Kevin O'Connor and Marc Bennett are running the Republican primary to replace longtime DA Nola Foulston.

O'Connor raised $69,751 dollars between January 1 and July 26. His campaign spent $41,482 dollars. The campaign has $36,788 left which includes contributions from 2011.

Bennett raised $77,573 dollars between January 1 and July 26. His campaign spent $96,053 dollars. The campaign has $19,609 left which includes contributions from 2011.

Sedgwick County Sheriff

Sheriff Bob Hinshaw is running for a second term as Sedgwick County Sheriff. He's being challenged in the Republican primary by Wichita Police Captain Jeff Easter.

Hinshaw raised $32,438 dollars between January 1 and July 26. His campaign spent $32,127 dollars. The campaign has $11,003 left which includes contributions from 2011.


Easter raised $63,010 dollars between January 1 and July 26. His campaign spent $51,081 dollars. The campaign has $11,928 left on hand.
