WICHITA, Kan. — The Wichita Wingnuts acquired third baseman Greg Porter from the Grand Prairie AirHogs on Monday in exchange for second baseman Jairo Perez.
Porter is currently hitting .262 with seven home runs and 33 RBI in 66 games played. Since June 7th, Porter is hitting .295 (60 for 203) with 29 runs scored, seven doubles, six home runs, and 29 RBI during a span of 48 games.
A 12-year veteran of professional baseball, Porter returns to the Wingnuts after spending the majority of the last three seasons with the AirHogs. Porter hit .372 to win the American Association batting title while playing for Wichita in 2009. The left-handed hitting slugger also tied for the league lead with 21 home runs, and ranked second with 86 RBI. Porter was named the American Association's Most Valuable Player, and was also honored by Baseball America as their Independent Player of the Year.
