(SEDGWICK COUNTY, Kan.) — It was built more than 110-years ago...but a fire has destroyed an historic Sedgwick County home. Investigators still have not determined what started the early morning fire just north of Garden Plain.

The Blasi family of nine lived in the home for several decades. For years it was a successful dairy farm...the seven boys and two girls eventually grew up and moved out.

"It’s just sad it's a memory gone", says Edith Orth who is the second oldest of nine children in the family.

Charred pieces of wood and broken glass are now scattered across a home that has more than 110-years of history to its name.

"Yeah it meant a lot to the whole family" says Leroy Blasi who is the oldest child.

"As you get older these are precious memories", adds Orth about the home.

Both said they came back on Tuesday to see the damage first hand and to get some closure on where they grew up.

Recently the house was abandoned; nobody was inside when the fire broke out and no injuries were reported.

Investigators say it could take more than week to determine what caused Tuesday morning's fire.
