August 12, 2012|By Meteorologist Ross Janssen | Storm Team 12

Quiet and cooler weather is on tap for Kansas the next 24 hours before our next rain chance arrives Monday night.

The winds will diminish over the area Sunday night with lows in the upper 50s - NW to low 60s in the Wichita area. A clear sky is expected through the night.

On Monday, temperatures will be in the upper 80s to near 90 with light winds for much of the state. Some clouds will arrive during the afternoon, but conditions will remain dry until Monday night. A weak storm system coming over the Rockies will spread isolated showers and storms across Kansas Monday night into Tuesday. The rain is not likely to be heavy, but some rainfall amounts around .25-.50" will be possible.

It will get hotter by midweek with temperatures returning to the upper 90s on Wednesday.
