Storm Team 12: Rain is out, heat to return

August 14, 2012|By Meteorologist Rodney Price | Storm Team 12

Thicker clouds and the rainfall have moved southeast of Wichita.  Overnight we expect some patchy fog to form, especially in parts of southern Kansas.  Elsewhere we'll see mostly clear skies with lows in the 60s.

On Wednesday it's back to the heat, with middle to upper 90s forecast, along with some gusty winds too. A cold front will work into northwest Kansas by the end of the afternoon, which could spark showers and storms there.

A few of these storms will drift southeast toward the Wichita area overnight Wednesday into Thursday morning.

Clouds will linger on Thursday, with some scattered showers and storms.  Temperatures will back down considerably, with 70s and 80s forecast!

The mild weather will hang around on the weekend, along with a few storms in western Kansas.  Highs will likely top out in the lower to middle 80s.
